The problem: while I agree with the political positions of much of the independent media, very little of it is straight reporting. It is opinion pieces, riffing off facts uncovered by actual paid reporters.

Once established local media outlets stop sending reporters to city council meetings, or having them pore through public records, who uncovers the malfeasance? A loose collective of volunteers? Underpaid independents who can't make a living off local coverage?

I don't see a way out of this hole, unfortunately.

When this deal is completed, regardless that Ellison is said to only have $10 Billion of the 500 Billion needed for these 'DATA CENTERS' "We The People" will be in our cages .

Here in Cleveland foundations got together and started this site called "The Land" where they train and pay people to do that stuff. Of course there's an obvious conflict of interest there in that probably cant report critically of the foundations where they get their money. There are also reader supported substacks where people do investigative work and not just opinion pieces but not that many
