"Urine-soaked faculty lounges"? What? I understand all the words in this speech, but I don't have a decoder ring for the knot of references it's made of. So it reads as delusional to me. And boring. Who is listening to this guy?

This is like if someone consciously tried to build a speech around Umberto Eco's fascism checklist

... along with the misquote and absolute negation of the timeless reminder to us to "Do unto others as we would have them to unto ourselves". This is also a grave concern for me.

I'm seeing dehumanizing vocabulary locally in reddit comments about our homeless campers. I think those using entomological vocabulary are in the minority, but they get a lot of attention, because we all occasionally feel anger and even fear at the situation. But in the case of our urban campers, we don't have any politicians or pundits stoking our feelings into temptations towards active evil.

To lighten things with some ridicule: I can't help being amused at, well, the "Boomer" misconception that Communism is still around, which I can kind of understand because I'm a Boomer myself. It was a Bad Word back in the day, so obviously Democrats = Communists, right? It's like a little kid hurling all the playground epithets they can think of at another kid.

It's also kind of...baffling? Like these people have money and a disproportionate amount of power. People like Posobiec and the Heritage president don't really *do* anything, yet they live lives of relative luxury. What exactly has been taken from them? What terrible punishment has "the left" meted out to them that they feel needs to be reciprocated? It's all so confusing...

I'm a boomer too and, at least in my little circle, not in the USA, the term Communism has lost a lot of its zing.

The dehumanizing vocabulary is so upsetting. Neoliberalism that create the conditions for homelessness in the first place is what should be addressed, but that's not going to happen.

Humans have a history of war and violence. Violence is a pretty normal human urge. How fast do we need to evolve, anyway? By the end of the summer?

Yeah, he might as well just say all the racist epitaphs he'd rather use, instead of the polite coded dogwhistles. It would at least be honest.

Bless you, Hamilton. I can’t imagine actually listening to these people spout this rubbish without screaming “what the hell is wrong with you people?” They do know that their guy is totally in bed with the globalists they hate so much, right? Or is it that they just don’t care?

Busy Bee.

Nigel Farage = nasty piece of work we all know.

Millei = crazy nasty man but then Argentina welcomed the Nazis!

Buukele= mad.

IF you look closely at these people you mention especially El Salvador/Argentina and the UK you KNOW that the US incited regime change in two of these countries because you did not like socialism.

SO please. The US has incited regime change in many countries because they had not wanted socialism.

Please do not reply to me and get on with your civil war in the US.

You have the guns but you are still sitting in your armchairs/are your weapons stored in your Den!

When your world disintegrates before your eyes and you don't have Tee-Vee which tell lies, what are YOU going to do?

I in my naivety thought that the US had guns to STOP your country from being 'taken over.' It's happening!

Where are you all?

Well, the second coming has arrived, but the air balloon that was supposed to bring Jesus has now delivered Satan, clothed in unbelievable evil and fascism, spouting hatred and cruelty. This man and his followers want to destroy America, so that their false God can make them more money and power, while the sheep who follow them will be treated like dirt.

It is horrifying but interesting to see the evolution of Fascism. The original European Fascism on the plank had a right to expansionism and Colonies. They seem to have given that up and are settling for a world vision of discrete, culturally unique fascist nation states.

And crazy how much mileage they get out of anti-communism, seeing that the Neoliberal Democrats already are, in my opinion, fascists.

They have politicized their arrogance. It is beyond belief that anyone in their right mind would go there. Where is their acknowledgment of the "administrative state" contributions like roads to drive on, buildings to hold bizarre conferences like the National Conservatism Conference, airplanes that flew them all here, all the work that has gone into creating everything we use in our daily lives, which apparently to Posobiec are just supports to hold in contempt? Maybe it is time for them to find out how long they would last without all of this support.

I think there are a number of underlying drivers: 1. they do not want to share. Democracy is a shared enterprise, and they do not want it. They would have to consider someone other than themselves. 2. They are jealous. Authoritarian systems want order and hate creativity. They are totally lacking in the heart and creativity that you find in the Democrats and the left. What an obnoxious group of people - and I am being kind.

Both of your recent pieces are stunning. I hope they get loads of traction. I also hope many of your readers have the wisdom to convince people we don't have an option. We have to face this reality and not assume things will be okay or that we, in our privilege, will be immune from Christo-fascism.

JFC - the projection with these assholes... "For too long, conservatives have only cared about principles but not about power."

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so terrifying.

My first thought is that these fascist people really have nothing to offer that's truly appealing - hating immigrants and "liberal commie socialist" whatevers and being a clenched butt ultra Christian - is that really very appealing ? Who could fall for that shit ? But I guess the hating part is really the tasty part. Like their uncle Adolph they just wanna do some damage, smite some enemies. It's so hard not to just see this as self loathing projected outward. Why else would they enjoy being so mean and angry and loathsome together ?
