Being born and bred in Florida didn't exactly prepare you for activism in the frozen North, did it? Can't say I envy you! Motivated by you, I will donate to the folks in Minnesota. BTW I thank you so much for helping the lady in the wheelchair—unbelievable!
Hi Hamilton, I just read your heartwarming and heart wrenching story to my 87-year-old mother. We are rooting for you and all the badass protesters!!! You were super sweet to help that woman. We live in a screwed up country for sure. We’ll donate to the rapid response fund. I hope the general strike is a huge success! Peace and gratitude, me and my Mom
Thanks for being there Hamilton. Even without the violence and repression voluntarily immersing oneself in that cold deserves respect. Maybe it makes sense: ICE belongs in the ice box. We look forward to your reports. Here is to the success of the general strike!
Hamilton, thank you for your reporting. I have donated, per your suggestion. And, by the way, I finished reading your book, The Hammer: Power, Inequality and the Struggle for the Soul of Labor. i loved it.
I am a retired ESOL teacher. I reached out to my local UNITE HERE union to help union members with their citizenship tests. I am not a union member, but a proud member of the working class.
Oh my gosh Hamilton. Thank you for your activism & for this amazing post + link. I just donated to the WFMN site. I’ll be thinking about you so much today. I already can’t wait to read your next piece.
"Midwest Nice" - which is more than politeness, but a deeply ingrained solicitude for others, is going to stand up to the thugs in a meaningful way -- glad you are there!
Reading about the work Minnesotans are doing has me feeling hopeful today. Thank you for fighting the good fight and caring for neighbors in the process! Solidarity from Colorado ❤️🔥
I freak out and whine when the temps dip into the thirties 2-3 times per winter here in your home town of St. Aug Hamilton. That said, the videos of the movement in Minneapolis today made me want to be there to stand in solidarity with them. Kudos to you for doing just that, and for your always insightful reporting. Stay safe brother.
