Putting this one in my time capsule - things to read again if we survive fascism. Because this so accurately captures the current feeling.

It's so surreal now but the tsunami is visible and coming . How will the protests go when Chump orders the U. S. ARMY to shoot Americans? Personally I'm 71 years old, still mobile and I'm going to protest until some semblance of representative government appears again. It may be awhile and I could be a casualty but hell I'm a casualty now dammit! Give me liberty or give me death.

I'm always impressed by the range of knowledge, precise wording, and moral clarity expressed in your writing … But this particular column is poetic (in the best sense) as it describes the political and spiritual realities of this time. “The mean spirit of nihilistic vengeance is momentarily unleashed. We will stuff it back in its box, sooner or later.” That is it! IF (and I mean that seriously) there is a future in America where people are still allowed to think and read, today’s column will be a piece of canonical literature for those trying to understand this era.

This writing, your witnessing, are lifelines. Thank you so much for keeping your eyes wide open, proverbial pen moving. We will rise, I hope -- as you say -- because what else? It had just better happen right quick. Rock on, fellow worker, we are fueling with your posts.

The fact that every single democrat didn't get disruptive to the point of being ejected with Rep Green (esp when he was removed!) makes them all Cowards and accomplices. With their little sad ping pong paddles and decorum. Puhlease. They should have made every single viewer witness to something, ANYTHING, resembling resistance.

And now I’m reading that Dem leadership is scolding those who “disrupted” the speech. The democrats are so pathetic

This is excellent writing. And it gets at a core point. We are faced with an opposition party that is aged, consultant-driven and impotent. Indeed every step of Donald Trump’s plans have been predicated on the assumption that the Democrats cannot or will not oppose him. And every time, he has been right.

Damn. I stopped receiving so many emails from them when I switched to a default unsubscribe message that listed their weakness. I have taken to unsubscribing from everything because at this point their emails are just a distraction from productive work. When I see them do more than waive a few hand signs I might dial back in. But not until then.

Gloves off, sometimes very funny, and most importantly the sad truth, this one should be read by everyone and anyone who gives a damn about stopping the idiocy, vanity, cruelty, and vengeful stupidity of the fascists sitting on the "Republican" side of the aisle--the Hate America society. Bravo!! You punched hard. Keep it up!

the description of that weird sterile and inhuman part of DC behind the Capitol is so spot on and accurate. I was just in that very part of DC a month ago for a LOC event, and a friend who works at the LOC took us out for dinner in that 'area' he was recalling a time not long ago when it was one of the many poor black neighborhoods that have been razed to the ground to build the tributes to the death of the soul
