Another great entry in a centrist who has never been anywhere near a protest telling leftists how to protest.
The problem these kids who were eight years old when Trayvon was killed and whose whole childhood has been protests over cops murdering black people on camera, then beating the shit out of the people who complain, probably arent aware that they'd have the shit beaten out of them for complaining. I should set them straight!
Apparently one of those rules is to leave campus when protesting, which seems to make it pretty clear that the author doesn't know what/why the students are protesting.
I know it's not the point of the blog at all, but I don't think I've ever been so happy to see a paywall as I was on whatever that WSJ -- I don't know, thing? -- was. Had I been able to read the entire -- I guess "thing" -- I probably would have turned into a blubbering pile of goo that would not have been able to get any work done today. Just, wow what a nonsense word salad that was turning into.
I'm with you. I can't imagine cranking out an op-ed about how we don't respect celebrities enough anymore. What a waste. And also that author sounds like a whiny jerk just based on what's freely available.
I just love this piece, and your work. Refreshing to witness clarity in the presence of obfuscation … and laugh.
Fantastic piece!
"Just because protesters understand that they will suffer consequences does not make the consequences justified."
Bingo
The ONLY moral lesson of 'consequences' is in the fortitude and resolve of those willing to suffer them...
And what high dudgeon from this Bobo guy...And per protests: If you're NOT pissing off the "right" people, then YOU'RE FUCKING DOING IT WRONG
"Wow! did you see how peacefully and respectfully those students protested?"
"Yeah! Wow INDEED! Let's give them what they're asking for!"
LOL! right....
Thanks - great essay and important to call this out.

The people who don't WANT protests want to be arbiters of how protests are done?
It IS to laugh!
